About Mary
Mary McCashin was born and raised on a horse farm in a small, one blinking yellow light town in North Carolina. In 2013 Mary decided to transition her career in order to combine her greatest passions; rodeo, horses, and fitness.
Mary began writing for online rodeo magazines, and it only grew from there. Today she is a doubly certified Nutrition Specialist, has authored two books, and has a thriving career as a freelance journalist.
She has traveled extensively around the United States and Canada, working tirelessly to connect with people involved in the western way of life. From major rodeos like Cheyenne Frontier Days and Denver’s National Western, to event such as Legacy of Legends in Texas, Mary has made it her goal to write as passionately and poignantly about the people and places of the West.
Allowing herself the creative freedom to write about unique individuals of the West, World Champion cowboys, AQHA horses, as well as some of today’s greatest CrossFit athletes is one of Mary’s favorite aspects of her career. Another adventure always awaits, another cowboy to interview, and another CrossFit athlete to be in awe of…
